From 4 July to 5 August, EMARP, Portimão

The EMARP is a Portimão’s municipal services company, dealing with water supply and waste water treatment. They keep a constant flow of art exhibitions on the walls of their reception, mainly painting and photography. So when people gonna pay their water bills, they can watch some art.

A EMARP é a empresa municipal de distribuição de água e tratamento de águas residuais de Portimão. Eles mantêm um fluxo constante de exposições de arte nas paredes da sua recepção, principalmente pintura e fotografia. Assim, quando as pessoas vão pagar as suas contas de água, podem sempre apreciar alguma arte.

Exhibit in the “Sociedade Recreativa Olhanense” – Olhão

From 6 to 28 February

The exposition had his debut in the same night of a concert from “Amar Guitar”, wich I watched and loved.

The building is beautiful and is the home for the Sociedade Recreativa Olhanense, who with great deliver and hard work, keeps dancing classes, theatre, music shows and more.

From 6th to 30th January, 2010:

This is the “second leg” of the December’s Expo. We could not fit all the paitings in the first Expo, so everyone agreeded to make a second leg in January.

Same place, diferent paintings.

I really wished this people would be helped by the Ministry of Culture or the Faro City Council, anyone. The building really needs some work, it’s a wonderfull building just by itself, and the work that is done inside by this guys is really worth of it.

Just so you know:

The “Sociedade Recreativa Artista Farense” aka Artistas was one of my favorite places for having a drink while I was in university. It still is. It have several cultural activities associated to it, such as painting lessons, dancing lessons, live music, workshops… what we can call a “island of resistance” in the Algarve’s cultural life. I believe we need, and deserve, more places like this.
